Assessment:
Assessment is based on the prescribed learning outcomes for this unit.

Attendance and Participation: 40%

This includes being on time, in PE strip, fully participating in every activity, and completion of the self assessment sheet.

Learning Log: 15%

This is a log to record and evaluate the progressive improvement of learning yoga. Students will be required to note new poses learned each day. At the end of each week, students will be required to breifly describe one specific pose and note how difficult they felt that it was, when they would find it most useful to do and how they feel that they could improve.  Photos of students may be incorporated to track progress.

Guest Teacher: 15%

Students will have one guest yoga speaker during this unit to provide knowledge and motivation. The week after the guest speaker, students will be asked to hand in a brief paragraph noting at least five interesting and useful facts from this lecture.

Yoga Video Project: 20%

Students will group themselves into groups of approximately 4.
The yoga video must include: Active participation of all students in the group
                                            Review of two poses and an introduction of two new poses.
                                            Note special safety cautions for each pose.
                                            Video should be 10-15 minutes in length.
* marks will be broken down as follows: 5pts for participation, 10 pts for correct demonstration of poses, 5 pts for set up and safety, and lastly 5 pts for creativity.

Note: Students who are unable to or choose not to make a video may perform the poses and teach the class live.

Terminology Quiz: 10%

Quiz will consist of  knowing the basic sanskrit names of yoga posses and destinguishing between  standing, seated, and twist poses.
